How to transfer stock between branches
Move stock on hand from one Biznable branch to another while keeping both branch balances and movement history updated.
Stock transfer lets you move stock on hand from one Biznable branch to another without recording a new stock-in or manually adjusting both branches.
The transfer starts from the Stock page. The branch selected on that page becomes the source branch.
Before you begin
Make sure:
- Your business has at least two active branches.
- The product has enough stock on hand in the source branch.
- You have access to both branches.
- Your account has permission to manage stock.
- Your plan supports multi-branch stock transfer.
Multi-branch stock transfer is available on Biznable Business and Scale plans.
«Check the selected branch before starting. The branch selected on the Stock page is where the stock will be transferred from.»
Transfer stock to another branch
- Open Stock in Biznable.
- In Branch, select the branch that currently holds the stock.
- Find the product or variant you want to transfer.
You can search by product, variant, SKU, barcode, category or manufacturer.
- Select Transfer for the stock item.
- In Quantity, enter how much stock you want to move.
- In Destination branch, select the branch that should receive the stock.
- Check Occurred at.
Leave the current date and time if the transfer is happening now. Change it if you are recording an earlier transfer.
- Add a note if needed.
Example: Move stock to Airport Road branch
- Select Save transfer.
The quantity must be greater than zero and cannot be more than the Available in source amount shown in the transfer window.
What happens after you save
When the transfer is completed:
- The source branch receives a Transfer out movement.
- The destination branch receives a Transfer in movement.
- Stock on hand in the source branch is reduced.
- Stock on hand in the destination branch is increased.
- The transfer appears in stock movement history.
Open Movement history on the Stock page to review recorded movements.
If the transfer requires approval
Your business may have an approval rule for the value of a stock transfer.
If the transfer reaches that approval threshold, Biznable creates an approval request instead of moving the stock immediately.
Use Open approval request to review the pending request and follow its progress.
The stock is moved only after the approval workflow completes successfully.
«If the source stock changes while the transfer is waiting for approval, Biznable may require you to submit the transfer again.»
Common problems
Transfer is not available
Check that:
- Your current plan supports multi-branch transfer.
- Another active branch is available to receive the stock.
Multi-branch transfer is available on Business and Scale plans.
No destination branch is available
The source and destination branches must be different.
If no destination appears:
- Make sure your business has another active branch.
- Make sure your account has access to that branch.
Transfer quantity is too high
You cannot transfer more stock than is currently on hand in the source branch.
Check Available in source and enter a lower quantity.
You cannot complete the transfer
Your account must have permission to manage stock and access to both branches.
Ask the business owner or manager to check your permissions and branch access.
The transfer was sent for approval
An approval rule applies to the transfer.
Use Open approval request to review its status.
The stock will not move until the approved workflow completes.
An approved transfer could not be completed
The source stock may have changed while the transfer was waiting for approval.
Check the current stock balance and submit the transfer again.
Confirm the transfer
After the transfer is completed:
- Stay on Stock.
- Select the source branch and confirm that its stock has reduced.
- Open Movement history and find the Transfer out entry.
- Change Branch to the destination branch.
- Confirm that its stock has increased.
- Check Movement history for the matching Transfer in entry.
This shows where the stock came from, where it moved to and when the transfer occurred.
